Historically, black sheep did not have value due to the inability to dye their wool. We each struggle to find where our value lies in this world. In this painting, the black sheep represents each of us in our moments of self-doubt and our search to discover our own value.

Jesus Christ is the source of truth and light. Through the healing power of His Atonement, we can find our innate value and know our true worth. He knows why we were given certain flaws or trials to go through, he knows our path and where it will lead us.

It is through His love that we are found, and come to understand who we really are.

May we be like this black sheep, turning to our Savior to discover who we are. May we also be like the white sheep, proudly sitting by, seeing the value in others before they discover it in themselves.

We are all valued.

Reproduced from the artist’s original artwork of Oil on Board 24 x 30. Painted 2024.
