      Story Behind the Art
"This painting is by Yongsung Kim, it is called The Hand of God. This painting portrays the experience of Jesus walking on water, and then saving Peter from drowning.
It's incredible that Peter walked on water for a short time, but even more miraculously was Jesus saving Peter. The Hand of God was painted from the perspective of Peter. Painting The Hand of God in this way, it is very easy for each of us to see ourselves as Peter: seeing ourselves ""drowning"" metaphorically and needing the Jesus Christ to save us. Jesus walking on water to save Peter is one of the most searched online Bible stories of all time and one that people the world over connect with on a deep level. Most paintings that portray this story do so from a third party perspective. Instead, Yongsung Kim chose to portray this story from the first person perspective of Peter.
Having the faith to walk on water is a level of spiritual strength that most of us can't even fathom, yet Christ says ""with God all things are possible"" (Mathew 19:26). In the next life we may begin to understand the mysteries of God, but in our current mortal state we must always rely on The Hand of God. We must rely on Jesus Christ and His saving grace. We must reach out for the hand of Christ. We must seek His strength, power and majesty.
Jesus is not just a good man, or even a prophet, He is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. He is the anointed one, the Lamb of God who cometh to take away the sins of the world upon the condition of repentance. The Hand of God painting is not only a reminder of Jesus's atonement for our eternal salvation, but The Hand of God painting is a reminder of our daily need of His saving grace.
The Hand of God painting is such a powerful piece of artwork. It captivates all who view it, and it's given inspiration and hope to people the world over.
Yongsung Kim's mission is to help connect humanity to Christ, and his painting The Hand of God fulfills this mission with exactness.

      About the Artist
Yongsung Kim spent his youth in the beautiful countryside of Korea, and still resides in Korea today. The main theme of his work are primarily Jesus Christ and Christianity. In a world with an increasing culture of violence and darkness, Yongsung Kim wants to shed the light of Jesus Christ to a new generation. Rather than the world’s often heavy and grim depiction of Jesus Christ, Yongsung Kim focuses on a bright, loving, and beautiful idea of Jesus Christ, utilizing portrayals of familiar scenes of nature to help it enter the heart of the observer.
