In Oceans Deep

This painting was inspired by one of my favorite Christian songs titled ‘Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)’. Some of my favorite lyrics from this song are: You call me out upon the waters, The great unknown where feet may fail. And there I find You in the mystery, In oceans deep my faith will stand. And I will call upon Your Name, And keep my eyes above the waves. When oceans rise, My soul will rest in Your embrace. For I am Yours and You are mine. I have loved this song for 10+ years, it is one I find myself singing to myself throughout the week. Often throughout my life it feels like these lyrics were written just for me. I have faced many great unknowns. I have experienced many deep oceans. I have felt the oceans rising. I have felt as thought I was about to be swallowed by the waves. The savior has been my rescue in each of those moments. Since I was a 5 year old girl, He taught me that I could find rest in His embrace. It is in the deepest oceans and scariest waves that I have found Him in the most personal ways. The hardest and scariest moments are when I have come to know Him. I have found my faith in those moments. Now, my faith has become strong enough that when I find myself in ocean deep, I know His steadfast love will see me through. The waves do not overwhelm me in the way that they used to. They are still hard and scary, but I can never forget that He has rescued me over and over again from the risings waters. He will never fail me. I am His, and He is mine. When you look at this painting and hear this title ‘In Oceans Deep’, I hope you are reminded that He is right there with you in the ocean you are facing. Calling on His name and centering Him in your life can and will bouy you. You can rest in His embrace. You are His. He is yours.
