Do Unto Others

In August of 2023 I was in Phillips Gallery choosing frames for my upcoming show. I had the privilege of speaking with Bonnie Phillips about her Golden Rule project. Bonnie has devoted much love, passion and creative energy to have the children of Utah learn about the Golden Rule.

Many years ago, Bonnie gave me a golden rule marble from the Dr Pepper company. I have treasured the marble. On this beautiful vibrant orange sphere is printed: Do unto Others. Anytime there was any contention, at the Dr Pepper company, they resolved the conflict with the Golden rule.

Later in the evening I reflected on my conversation with Bonnie about the golden rule. I remembered making paper doll chains as a little girl. The concept for this painting coalesced.

These are trying times indeed, and the Golden Rule is a philosophy of necessity to keep us kind, unified, and empowered.
