Contemplating Divine Love

In order to believe in a loving God, I have been forced to grapple with the complex paradox of the existence of divine love and the presence of evil, death, and sin. The jasmine flowers in this painting represent the love of God, and the woman directs her attention to them. The fragile blooms are contrasted with her red hair which resembles fire and represents the Holy Spirit and a refiners fire.
