Born This Day

The Nativity story Liz began 25 years ago comes full circle with her new painting Born This Day. Lemon-Swindle's most renowned image, “Be It Unto Me”, featured Mary gazing out at us from the painting with the new born Christ child in her arms. The model for the baby Jesus in that painting was Liz's then newborn granddaughter. Now a grown woman herself, the one-time model presented Liz with a great grandson in the fall of 2022 – the girl’s own first born child. The arrival of this newborn inspired Liz's newest Nativity piece, Born This Day.

Liz Lemon Swindle began her painting career in first grade. Her first exhibitions were on the refrigerator, encouraged by her father. In the early 1980s she tutored under renowned wildlife artist, Nancy Glazier. In 1992, Liz began painting a subject matter she had long desired to approach: her faith. Her paintings are now held in corporate and private collections around the world and have been published in countless magazines and books. Liz and her husband Jon have five children and thirteen grandchildren.
