As the gap between what we need and what we actually have widens, our fears may multiply. In our desperation, we may find our worldly cares the all consuming and sole focus of our attention.
As important and fundamental as our daily livelihood is, the Lord teaches us that even our need to eat to sustain our lives is not nearly as crucial as our spiritual welfare and the life only truly found in Him. If we allow our temporal fears to hijack our locus of control, we run the greater risk of losing our spiritual livelihood. If, however, we are able to subdue ourselves, soothe our nerves, and seek the Lord first, He promises us that He will take care of us in every sense of the word.
He knows full well what we stand in need of both temporally and spiritually. If we ask for His aid, we have no need to worry that He will provide for us so long as we put Him first. As for how and when He will take care of us we must completely put in His hands. We must trust His will on the matter for He has the foresight we lack and knows what our souls need the most.
Putting our burdens and care in His hands also means that we must do as He directs, even when it may not make sense or any additional efforts seem futile. Trust the word of the Lord. Cast your net, and ye shall find. As we are prepared to completely leave our nets behind, put our entire selves in His hands, and follow Him, He just may fill them to the brim."
