In the Bible, Luke 8:40-48 tells of a woman who bled for twelve years. She had seen many doctors and still had not been healed. The woman was utterly hopeless. Her town's people were buzzing with talk of Jesus Christ who healed the sick, blind, and lame. She wondered if he could help her. As she walked toward Jesus there was a great crowd of people pressing in to see him. In the painting Touch of Faith, Liz Lemon Swindle paints the woman who said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.” In a moment of bravery and faith, she reached out her hand. Then suddenly she was healed. Jesus said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
